Much has been made of the rise of social networking and how services like Twitter and Facebook will see the use of email diminish. Well, this might be true but it’s not happening yet. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by MarkTools , 96 percent (yes, 96!) of respondents felt that their email volume had actually increased (45 percent) or stayed the same (51%) over the last year. As a PR, I can safely say that the volume of email I receive is just consistently (and painfully) high. To celebrate email, check out the infographic below on its history.
